Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the United Arab Emirates, Rauan Zhumabek, held a meeting with the Secretary-General of the Muslim Council of Elders, Mohamed Abdelsalam.
During the meeting, the two sides reviewed the current state of cooperation between Kazakhstan and the Muslim Council of Elders and discussed prospects for its further development.
Ambassador Zhumabek expressed his appreciation to Secretary-General Abdelsalam for his continued support of the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions. He highlighted the importance of the 24th Meeting of the Secretariat of the Congress, which will take place in Astana on 7 October, 2026, and invited the Secretary-General to participate in the event.
During the discussion, the Kazakh diplomat also briefed his counterpart on the political reforms being implemented at the initiative of the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, aimed at improving the system of public administration. He also informed him about the elections to the unicameral Qurultay, scheduled for 23 August, 2026. The Ambassador emphasized that these reforms are designed to strengthen Kazakhstan's sovereignty, develop human capital, and modernize the country's representative institutions.
For his part, Secretary-General Мohamed Abdelsalam highly praised the steadily growing cooperation between Kazakhstan and the Muslim Council of Elders, and expressed support for Kazakhstan's initiatives aimed at promoting interfaith and intercivilizational dialogue. He also confirmed his participation in the 24th Meeting of the Secretariat of the Congress.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the two sides reviewed the joint activities planned for the upcoming period and reaffirmed their mutual commitment to further expanding bilateral cooperation.
