Kazakhstan and Luxembourg Continue to Expand Multifaceted Cooperation

Luxembourg, January 29, 2025 – The Ambassador of Kazakhstan, Margulan Baimukhan, held separate meetings with Minister of Finance of Luxembourg, Gilles Roth, the Political Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Veronique Dockendorf, and the Diplomatic Advisor to the Prime Minister of Luxembourg, Loris Nicoletti.

During the meetings, Baimukhan informed his counterparts about the political and socio-economic reforms being implemented in Kazakhstan, as well as the current state and prospects of cooperation between Kazakhstan and Luxembourg. Special attention was given to the active development of ties between Kazakhstan and Luxembourg, as well as between the European Union and Central Asia. Furthermore, the parties exchanged views on a number of international and regional issues.

Luxembourg counterparts highly appreciated the dynamics of political and economic relations between the two countries. The Minister of Finance of the Grand Duchy emphasized Kazakhstan’s important role in the region and noted the growing political dialogue between the countries. He also expressed interest in learning more about the activities of the Astana International Financial Centre and suggested sharing Luxembourg’s experience in creating advanced financial institutions.

Veronique Dockendorf, the Political Director of Luxembourg’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, noted that Kazakhstan remains an important and stable partner for Luxembourg in Central Asia and expressed support for initiatives aimed at organizing several bilateral events in 2025 and 2026. The discussions also updated the issues and agreements reached during the official visit of Kazakhstan’s Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Foreign Affairs, Murat Nurtleu, to Luxembourg in October 2024.

During the meeting with the Diplomatic Advisor to the Prime Minister of Luxembourg, Loris Nicoletti, the parties exchanged views on foreign policy, trade and economic cooperation, regional security, global challenges, as well as upcoming bilateral and multilateral events. Nicoletti confirmed the Prime Minister’s interest in maintaining a constructive dialogue with Kazakhstan’s leadership.

Additionally, Ambassador Baimukhan invited Luxembourg’s politicians to participate in the Astana International Forum, which will be held on May 29-30, 2025.
