Shymkent akim Gabit Syzdykbekov and QazaqGaz Chairman Sanzhar Zharkeshov attended a ceremony to celebrate connecting homes and businesses to natural gas in the Tassay, Kainarbulak, and Elaman neighborhoods, as well as the Tassay industrial zone.
Since last year, efforts have been underway to expand gas access to new areas. With the work now complete, over 25,000 residents and businesses in Shymkent will gain access to gas by 2024. This achievement raises the city’s gas coverage to an impressive 97.4%. The introduction of natural gas is expected to benefit Shymkent’s environment and enhance residents' quality of life.
During his visit to Shymkent, Sanzhar Zharkeshov also conducted an inspection of the city’s gas infrastructure. He toured gas distribution stations, key pipelines, and homes newly connected to the network. A strong focus was placed on safety, particularly as the heating season brings peak demand on the system. Residents were reminded to perform regular maintenance on gas appliances and ventilation systems to ensure safety and compliance with regulations.
"The uninterrupted supply of gas to all consumers is our top priority, especially during the winter months when demand is at its highest," Zharkeshov emphasized. He also highlighted the importance of using gas efficiently to support energy conservation.
As part of the visit, the QazaqGaz chairman met with the akim of Shymkent to discuss the city’s gas supply system. The two leaders explored future projects aimed at expanding the gas network and improving infrastructure to meet growing demand.
