​Gift from Atyrau nearly put Mom into prison

Mother gave her son a gift - a piece of sturgeon fish - to take with him when he travelled to Astana and was nearly put to prison.

Court #2 of Atyrau city considered the criminal case concerning the defendant A. M. under the Article 339 of RoK Criminal Code ("Illegal handling of animals that are rare and under the threat of extinction").

During the court hearing it was established that the woman bought 2 kg piece of sturgeon at Koktem market for 3 000 tenge and went to the railway station to see off her son to Astana. Soon the son was detained by police officers with forbidden product right on the railway platform.

According to press service of regional court the defendant fully admitted her guilt and asked to assign a light measure of punishment.

The court found her guilty and considering the admission of guilt and lack of criminal record - imposed sentence in the form of restriction of freedom for a period of 1 year.
