Kazakhstan leads in medal standings of 2015 Winter Universiade

Following the first day of the 2015 Winter Universiade in Štrbské Pleso, Slovakia, the Kazakhstan team is leading in medal tally with 2 gold medals.

Kazakh biathlete Alina Raikova and skier Anastasia Slonova brought on January 25 two gold medals securing the first place in the overall medal standings of the competition after the first day of the tournament, bnews.kz reports.

Raikova won gold in women's 15 km individual competition.

Slonova was first in women's cross country skiing sprint.

Kazakhstan is the leader with two golds, the Russians are the second with 1 gold, three silver and three bronze medals, the third – the Ukrainians with 1 gold.

The Universiade will be held until February 1.
