Tanzania recognized Russia as superpower

"We will always remind of the historical role of Russia, which it should play," - said Membe. Tanzanian Foreign Minister Bernard Kamillius Membe, paying a visit to Moscow, called Russia the superpower, kazpravda.kz reports.  

"Of course, Russia is a superpower. We will always remind of the historical role of Russia, which it should play," - said Membe at the meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.   
Head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the African state also said that he has a message for Russian President Vladimir Putin, but the details of the document were not disclosed.   
The Foreign Ministry’s press release said that Russia and Tanzania have long-term friendly relations, and their positions on key issues of world politics are similar or identical.   
Diplomatic relations were established on 11 December 1961. In 2010 the trade turnover between the two countries increased up to almost $ 90 mln. Russia exports metal, fertilizer, building materials, machinery and certain types of equipment, and imports tea, coffee, cashew nuts, spices, some rare earth metals.  
In Tanzania there are several joint ventures with Russian capital, primarily engaged in exploration and shipping.
