Three dead and 20 injured in collision

On February 26^th a major traffic accident on the Atyrau-Uralsk highway was reported to the emergency room controller. A Daewoo shuttle bus, travelling from Uralsk to Atyrau, collided with a Volvo truck. Three passengers travelling in the bus were killed, 15 others sustained injuries of varying degree.

The injured have been taken to medical facilities in Atyrau, Inder and Makhambet.

A total of 43 passengers were in the bus, including 15 children travelling to a sports tournament in Atyrau.

According to the regional communication service, hot meals had been organised for them and alternative transport arranged to deliver them to their destination. A 24-hour call centre has been opened to obtain information about passengers and their condition 98 02 92, 87780072021.

Marat SHUAKBAEV, Acting Chief Physician of Makhambet District Hospital:

We have received 7 people, 6 of whom were born 2005-2006.  Three children with moderate injuries have been transferred to the regional hospital. All are expected to make a full recovery.

Gulmira Zaitova, Chief doctor of Inderskaya district hospital:

We received 4 injured persons, three of whom are children. All are in a stable condition.

A pre-trial investigation has been opened under Part 4. Article 345 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan (“Violation of the rules of the road or operation of vehicles by persons driving vehicles, resulting in the death of two or more persons”).
