The president of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev introduced the new chairman of National Security Committee - Vladimir Zhumakanov, Akorda's press service reported.
On this position Zhumakanov replaced Nourtai Abykaev. Previously the lieutenant general Zhumakanov held the position of the first deputy chairman of KNB.
The Head of State noted that he adopted this decision in order to release from the position of the chairman of KNB Nourtai Abykaev in connection with achievement of the latter of the retirement age and transition to another work.
Nazarbayev emphasized that KNB has a big responsibility as it provides protection of the constitutional system and safety of the country is conferred on committee.
