Atyrau-Astrakhan Highway: KazAvtoJol Completes Renovation

Travel time along this route has been reduced by more than half, Orda reports.

Previously, the journey took about five hours, but now it will take motorists only two hours to cover the entire route.

The project was launched in 2018 and financed by a European Bank for Reconstruction and Development loan.

The length of the section is 272 kilometers. Now, the highway includes two traffic lanes - one in each direction, and six bridges and one overpass have been built.

There are also 10 rest areas.

Companies from Kazakhstan, Italy, Türkiye, and Azerbaijan participated in the project.

More than 650 specialists and about 450 units of equipment were involved.
