Samat Abish was appointed First Deputy Chairman of the National Security Committee. The corresponding decree was signed by President of Kazakhstan.
Abish replaced Vladimir Zhumakanov in this post, who had been appointed Chairman of the National Security Committee.
The 37-year-old Samat Abish is a graduate of the Academy of the National Security Committee and the Foreign Intelligence Service of the Russian Federation. He started serving in the National Security Committee since 2000, then he worked in the Ministry of Justice. He worked as a Deputy Chairman of the National Security Committee since March 2013.
Samat Abish is a nephew of the first President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev. He is the younger son of the younger brother of Nazarbayev.
