​Former head of EXPO 2017 Ermegiyaev is under house arrest

On June 12, #2 Almaty District Court of Astana ruled to put former head of the Astana EXPO-2017 Talgat Ermegiyaev under house arrest for 2 months.

According to the source close to the subject matter, he is suspected of embezzling budget funds (ст. УК РК (RoK Criminal Code Article #17, “Misappropriation and embezzlement of entrusted property of another").

To recall, President released Talgat Yermegiyayev from post of head of 'Astana EXPO-2017' NC and appointed Mayor of Astana Adilbek Dzhaksybekov as chairman of the board of JSC "National Company" Astana EXPO-2017".

In “Astana Expo – 2017" national company a large-scale probe within anti-corruption legislation has been launched, the source familiar with the matter reports from Astana.
