Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said on Monday a meeting within the so-called Normandy format will be held in Astana on January 15.
"My diplomatic year will start in Astana on January 15 where a meeting within the Normandy format will be held," Poroshenko said.
Moscow has confirms January 15 as possible date for Normandy format meeting on Ukraine, azh.kz refers to inform.kz.
The so-called Normandy format was established in June when Russian President Vladimir Putin, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, French President Francois Hollande and Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko discussed the Ukrainian crisis on the sidelines of the celebrations of the 70th anniversary of the D-Day in Normandy, France.
To recall, on December 22 the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev paid a visit to Kiev. He suggested Petro Poroshenko to develop common solutions of the Ukrainian crisis. The parties agreed to resume military and technical cooperation. Nazarbayev also promised to deliver Ekibastuz coal to Ukraine. During his visit to Kiev the President of Kazakhstan noted that there are ways out of the existing situation in Ukraine.
