A 30-year-old man who tried to sell a girl into slavery for $1,000 was imprisoned by Almaty court for 5 years, the press service of the Almaty Prosecutor's Office said Friday.
In February 2014, a woman reported the prosecutor's office on that man offered her to buy a girl for $1,000 with the purpose to enslave her.
The special operation of the Almaty police allowed to detain the 30-year-old man red-handed while giving the money for the girl.
According to the prosecutor's office, the criminal probe was launched under the Article 128 of the Criminal Code of Kazakhstan (human trafficking).
On June 6, Almaty court has ruled to sentence the man to five years in prison with confiscation of property. The sentence came into force.
