On June 12, the 26th session of the International coordinating committee of UNESCO program “Person and Biosphere” awarded to Ak Zhaik state nature reserve an international status.
This is the result of work that Ak Zhaik nature reserve has been conducting for some years with the support of local authorities and various departments. According to Alexander Ivasenko, the head of science and monitoring department of Ak Zhaik nature reserve, the inclusion of nature reserve into UNESCO list puts the onus, including preservation of ecosystem, the types of nature reserve inhabitants, the support of ecological education and scientific researches connected with regional, national and global issues of preservation of environment.
