Senate adopts Criminal Executive Code of Kazakhstan

The Senate of Kazakhstan's Parliament approved in the second reading the draft Criminal Executive Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the official media reported Thursday.

The new law will have high consequences on human rights, prisoners and defendants. It will significantly change their lives for the better. According to the draft law, the positively characterized convicted people will be classified as the first, second, third degree of behavior. The negatively characterized convicts will also be classified. Proposed classification of behavior of the convicts will serve as a basis for change of a correctional institution type.

One of the novelties of the bill is introduction of the classification of correctional institutions, depending on the degree of security of the institutions.
