92 foreign websites declared illegal in Kazakhstan due to alcohol ads

Almaty Prosecutor's Office ruled 92 foreign websites, advertising alcohol, illegal, azh.kz reports citing the agency's press service.

Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan as of January 1, 2004 "On Mass Media" prohibits advertising alcoholic beverage. In addition, it is prohibited the promotion of ethyl alcohol and alcohol products.

The Prosecutor's Office of Almaty has conducted a monitoring of the websites, as a result, 92 foreign websites were found illegal. The Internet resources provided advertising of alcoholic products to users throughout the territory of Kazakhstan, said in the message.

Court's decisions have satisfied 24 applications made by prosecutors. Ninety two foreign media, placing alcohol advertising, have been declared illegal.
