1 933 просмотрs

Queen Elizabeth IIIt may not command the highest salary and the hours might be long and arduous – but jobseekers who want to work for a well-known boss need look no further, reports Telegraph.

The Queen has advertised for a trainee butler to join her staff at Buckingham Palace, looking after her and other members of the Royal household.

The successful applicant, will be based at Buckingham Palace, but must also be willing to spend at least three months of the year at other Royal residences, including Balmoral in the Highlands and Sandrigham in Norfolk.

While the salary on offer is only £15,000 [$25,000] a year, butlers receive free accommodation and are trained to the highest standard.

Many of those who boast long service with the Queen can go on to command very high salaries in the private sector, with their services in particular demand in the United States.

According to the advertisement, applicants for the role must possess a friendly, polite and approachable disposition with the ability to be discreet and maintain confidentiality.

The advertisement, which appears on the Royal website, also explains that the Queen is looking for an "enthusiastic and dedicated individual, currently working within the catering and hospitality sector but looking for a new challenge".

It goes on to explain: “This unique and professional role provides development and career progression opportunities for those willing to work at a number of Royal residences in the UK, where you will carry out a wide range of responsibilities from messenger and valeting duties to food and beverage service.”

The role is described as including the "collection and delivery of tea/coffee trays breakfast trays and newspapers for Royal and Household purposes in an efficient and discreet manner".

The successful applicant will also be responsible for the "valeting of guests and members of the Royal Household invited to stay with the Royal Family ensuring that clothes and uniforms are cared for to the highest standards".

In addition they will be expected to undertake "messenger duties when on duty at Privy Purse Door ensuring that all post, pouches, dispatch boxes and messages are delivered to Members of the Royal Family and employees in a timely manner".

The Royal household has been embarrassed in the past when former staff members have revealed personal details about the goings on in the Queen’s home.

In 2003 a reporter working for a tabloid newspaper got a job as a Royal footman at Buckingham Palace, later exposing details such as what the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh like to have for breakfast.

Paul Burrell, who worked as a footman to the Queen and later as butler to Diana, Princess of Wales, also went on to cash in on his experiences by writing a book.

Applications for the job of Royal butler close on October 26.
