The caricaturist Yerkin Nurazkhan at the exhibitionCaricatures of famous Kazakhstan figures have been presented at the exhibition in Astana, Tengrinews reports. The author of the caricatures Yerkin Nurazkhan dedicated the exhibition to the release of his sketch-book Sharzh Sherui (March of Carucatures) that includes works made between 2005 and 2011.
The satirical collection includes more than a thousand caricatures of famous Kazakhstan politicians, writers, actors and other public figures.
"I memorize their image, looking at them, watching them speak on TV, see how they appear in public, how they work, what promises they give to people, what attitude they have, what words the use and what they do. This is how the image is created. Their photos, that show details are also very helpful," the artist shared the creation process.
Yerkin Nurazkhan said that he started to be interested in the genre while a student. His works have adorned private galleries since 1982. Besides, they were published in Kazakhstan newspapers and magazines. The artist believes his works are inoffensive and bring only positive emotions.
"For example politician Mels Yeleusizov, he came to the exhibition once, laughed at others and himself and appreciated the works," the artist said.
Yerkin Nurazkhan graduated from Zhurgenov Theatrical and Artistic Institute. He is the author of the sketch-book Whom to laugh at? and colorific portraits of legendary people of Kazakhstan history. Many of his works are stored in Kasteyev State Museum of Arts and in the Museum of the First President of Kazakhstan.
