In the time to come, water will be very expensive in Kazakhstan, believes the country's prime minister Serik Akhmetov.
"If water supply organizations develop effective tariffs, people will consume less water, what are we always afraid of. Regardless we want it or not, water will be very expensive tomorrow, but due to effectiveness and good management the tariffs may decrease, I think," Akhmetov said at a government session Tuesday.
According to Kazakh agency for natural monopolies regulation, currently 84% of households in Kazakhstan have individual water counters installed and the figure is projected to be 95% by 2018.
