Kazakhstan's ministry of emergency situations has agreed with domestic mobile operators to inform people about disasters via text messages, the agency's media service announced.
In a press release, it is written that Emergency Vice Minister J. Smailov and operators of mobile communications in Kazakhstan - Tele-2, KCell, Altel, Beeline - have signed a joint agreement on informing the population about every emergency situation of natural or man-caused character by sending out mass SMS messages.
The agency says mobile communication in Kazakhstan is available to every citizen regardless location and place of residence, so sending mass text messages will help achieve maximum scale of notification.
