In Atyrau on the Victory Day eve in eleven points of the city at one and the same time the famous wartime song “Katyusha” composed by Matvei Blanter with lyrics from Mikhail Isakovsky was sung. Such a peculiar flashmob initiative belongs to the public association “Zheruyik Cultural Fund”.
- “In such a manner we proposed to honour the memory of the soldiers who didn’t return from the war and of those veterans who passed away,” – said Nurbergen Dauletov, the chairman ofthe public association “Zheruyik Cultural Fund”.
“We selected the singing points nearly in every district of the city and invited all those who wanted to participate in this action.”
At the moment when the group of people shouted “Let’s start singing!” we were near the “Atyrau” cultural centre adjacent to the local Akimat building. There were about 50 civil servants from different departments. A few TCO employees and passers-by joined the singing group. After lively singing the legendary song, the participants applauded to themselves and dispersed for lunch break.
