PM Massimov resigns

September 24, 2012. Karim Massimov was released from his position as Prime-Minister, according to the presidential media service.

"The President relieved K.Massimov from his post of the Kazakhstan's Prime-Minister upon his request," reads the Ak Orda media service message.

In his ruling, Nazarbayev instructed the government to continue its work until approval of new make-up of government, in accordance with Article 70 of the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The ruling is effective the day it is signed.

"Filed resignation. Resignation accepted by the head of state," wrote Massimov in his Twitter.

47 year old Massimov, in various periods, headed the ministry of transport and communications, served as presidential aide, deputy prime minister (in parallel with being the minister of economy and budget planning in April-October 2006). He has been prime minister since January 10, 2007.
