Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Japan Yerlan Baudarbek-Kozhataev held a meeting with Kenji Ozeki, Director of the Matsushita Institute of Government and Management.
During the meeting, the sides discussed prospects for developing academic, intellectual and expert exchanges between Kazakhstan and Japan, including cooperation in the areas of public policy and international relations. The important role of such contacts in further strengthening the expanded strategic partnership between the two countries was highlighted.
The Ambassador briefed the Institute’s leadership on the key results of the political and socio-economic reforms being implemented in Kazakhstan, as well as the country’s role in promoting international cooperation on pressing global issues. Particular attention was paid to Kazakhstan’s initiatives as a “middle power” capable of providing a platform for dialogue and the search for mutually acceptable solutions to issues on the international agenda.
Kenji Ozeki expressed the Institute’s interest in expanding cooperation with Kazakhstan. In particular, the Institute’s leadership and participants plan to visit various regions of Kazakhstan in November 2026 to familiarise themselves with the progress and outcomes of the reforms being implemented in the country, as well as to explore opportunities for further developing bilateral ties.
The visit is expected to include meetings with representatives of Kazakhstan’s government bodies, business community, academic circles and civil society organisations.
The Matsushita Institute of Government and Management was founded in 1979 by prominent Japanese entrepreneur and founder of Panasonic Corporation Konosuke Matsushita. The Institute specialises in developing future leaders and building human resources for public service, politics, business and the public sector.
The Institute’s alumni include members of the Government and Parliament of Japan, public figures, and heads of regional administrations and major companies. Among its notable alumni is Sanae Takaichi, the current Prime Minister of Japan and Chairperson of the country’s ruling Liberal Democratic Party.
