Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Kingdom of Thailand Margulan Baimukhan held a meeting with Sittichote Intaravises, Member of the Election Commission of Thailand.
During the meeting, the Ambassador presented the key areas of Kazakhstan’s constitutional and political modernization, including the transition from a bicameral Parliament to a unicameral Kurultai, aimed at streamlining the legislative process and enhancing the efficiency of public administration.
Ambassador Baimukhan also presented the key features of Kazakhstan’s electoral system, including the “Sailau” information system, which ensures the updating of voter lists and enables citizens to verify their personal data.
Ambassador further briefed the Thai side on Kazakhstan’s key socio-economic indicators. Over the years of independence, the country has attracted approximately 470 billion US dollars in foreign direct investment. In 2025, the economy grew by 6.5%, GDP reached 305 billion US dollars, GDP per capita exceeded US 15,000, while the unemployment rate stood at 4.6%.
Particular attention was paid to the development of Kazakhstan–Thailand relations. In 2025, bilateral trade reached 255.1 million, increasing by approximately 8%. Around 200,000 Kazakh citizens visited Thailand in 2025. Air connectivity comprises 23 regular direct flights per week, with the number reaching up to 35 flights, including charter services.
In turn, Sittichote Intaravises briefed the Kazakh side on the features of Thailand’s electoral system and shared his views on prospects for mutually beneficial cooperation and the exchange of experience between the electoral commissions of the two countries.
The sides expressed interest in further professional dialogue, the exchange of practical experience, and the development of cooperation in the areas of the electoral process, political modernization and public administration.
