Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan Continue to Strengthen Their Strategic Partnership

As part of his official visit to Turkmenistan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yermek Kosherbayev was received by the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov.

During the meeting, the Kazakh Foreign Minister conveyed warm greetings and best wishes on behalf of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

Minister Kosherbayev underscored the special importance that Astana attaches to Kazakhstan–Turkmenistan cooperation, which continues to develop in the spirit of good-neighbourliness, mutual respect, and strategic partnership.

For his part, President Berdimuhamedov expressed satisfaction with the positive momentum of bilateral cooperation and emphasized the importance of further deepening the strategic partnership between Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan.

The Kazakh Foreign Minister also briefed the President on the implementation of the agreements reached at the highest and high levels.

The parties also exchanged views on current regional and international issues. They noted the high level of cooperation between the two countries within multilateral frameworks and underscored the importance of further advancing regional cooperation aimed at strengthening peace and stability in Central Asia.

A key outcome of the meeting was the signing of the Treaty on Friendship, Good-Neighbourliness and Cooperation for the Development of Central Asia in the 21st Century. This historic step marked the beginning of a new stage of regional cooperation and sustainable development.
