Kazakhstan and Thailand Strengthen Bilateral Cooperation

Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yermek Kosherbayev held talks with Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand Sihasak Phuangketkeow, who arrived in Kazakhstan on an official visit.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the development of political dialogue, trade, economic and investment cooperation, as well as collaboration in the cultural and humanitarian spheres. Particular attention was paid to enhancing transport and logistics connectivity and strengthening interregional ties between Central and Southeast Asia.

The two Foreign Ministers welcomed the steady positive momentum in bilateral relations and reaffirmed their mutual commitment to further expanding practical cooperation.

“Thailand is one of Kazakhstan’s key partners in Southeast Asia. Today’s talks reaffirmed the high level of mutual understanding and our countries’ shared commitment to implementing new joint projects in the fields of trade, investment, and humanitarian cooperation,” said Minister Kosherbayev.

The ministers also reviewed prospects for cooperation in agriculture, the food industry, digitalization, logistics, and tourism. Kazakhstan reaffirmed its readiness to leverage the potential of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route to strengthen trade links between the two regions.

The ministers also exchanged views on current regional and international issues, reaffirming their commitment to the principles of international law and the UN Charter. The Kazakh side presented President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s initiative to establish an International Water Organization under the auspices of the United Nations.

Following the talks, the foreign ministries of Kazakhstan and Thailand signed a Joint Action Plan for 2027–2028.

As part of the visit, a Kazakhstan-Thailand Business Forum will also be held in Almaty, bringing together representatives of government agencies and business communities from both countries. The forum is expected to conclude with the signing of several agreements aimed at expanding bilateral trade, economic, and investment cooperation.
