Man caught with marijuana - gets away clear after fine

A 28-year-old man was caught during a night raid in Aktau. Police found 4 sachets under a driver's seat in his Toyota Camry, which, as analysis showed, contained marijuana.

According to police, the weight of the confiscated 'weed' - 292.42 grams - is insufficient for initiation of a criminal proceeding. So, the young man was released after paying a fine.

As per Article 320 of the RoK Criminal Code, illegal production, processing or transportation of narcotic substances without intention to sell may lead individuals to a fine ranging between 5-10 monthly calculation indexes or up to 10 days of imprisonment.
