Kazakhstan’s Government sees a large-scaled reshuffle

Secretary of State Marat Tazhin.Secretary of State Marat Tazhin.Following respective presidential decrees, January 16 the country’s Government has seen a major reshuffle, Newskaz.ru reports, citing the President’s website.

Mr. Krymbek Kusherbayev has been relieved of his duties as Vice PM and transferred to the  position of Kyzyl-Orda Oblast Governor.

Mr. Marat Tazhin has been relieved of his duties as Aide to the President and Security Council Secretary and has been appointed Kazakhstan’s Secretary of State, replacing outgoing Mr. Mukhtar Kul-Mukhammed.

Mr. Bakhytzhan Sagintayev has been appointed First Vice PM and Head of the newly established Ministry for Country’s Regions Development.

The reorganized Ministry of Economic Affairs and Budget Planning is now headed by Mr. Erbolat Dossayev who prior to the reshuffle served as Minister of Economic Development and Trade.

Mr. Mukhtar Kul-Mukhammed who served as Secretary of State for a year has been once again appointed Minister of Culture and Information. 

Mr. Talgat Ermegiyaev who headed Ministry of Tourism and Sports from 2011 and then the country’s Agency for Sports has been appointed Chairman of the Board of the Astana EXPO-2017 National Company. On the same day President Nazarbayev instructed to complete design of the EXPO-2017 facilities within a shortest possible term and get down to actual construction as early as in 2013.

Mr. Darkhan Mynbai has been relieved of his duties as Minister of Culture and Information and has been appointed Director of the National Museum of Kazakhstan.

Earlier a large-scaled government reshuffle took place back in September 2012.
