Three major oil refineries in Kazakhstan can be privatized, the deputy chairman of the board of KazMunaiGas JSC National Company, Daniyar Berlibayev, said Sept. 30, IA Novosti-Kazakhstan reported.
“The government is in fact considering such a question," he told reporters on the sidelines of the Kazenergy Forum.
However, Berlibayev didn't elaborate whether the refineries are going to be privatized in whole, or the government will partially keep its presence in them.
Asked about the reasons for privatization, Berlibayev stressed that there are many advantages to this.
“It can improve the situation, private business will be active there," he noted.
