Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev announced the national name of Kazakhstan - "Uly dala Eli" (the Great Steppe Nation), noting this name speaks for itself.
"In the 21st century, the immense space of the steppe of Eurasia newly transforms and thrives. We lit the new light in our history, so from now on our Kazakhstan is “Uly dala Eli." This exactly name of our motherland reflects our past, present and future," Nazarbayev said at a ceremony celebrating the 550th anniversary of the Kazakh Khanate in Astana on Friday.
He added that in the name speaks for openness, hospitality and love of peace, wisdom, prudence, diligence of people and their belief in their strength.
“I am convinced that such image of Kazakhstan will find a place in the minds and hearts of every citizen of Kazakhstan and will be recognized all over the world," Nazarbayev said.
