​IMF chief to visit Kazakhstan

International Monetary Fund (IMF) chief Christine Lagarde is set to visit Kazakhstan to participate in the IMF regional forum, the National Bank of Kazakhstan said in a release.

The upcoming visit of Lagarde was discussed during the meeting of Kazakh central bank chief Kairat Kelimbetov and Director of the IMF Department for Middle East and Central Asia on September 3 in Almaty.

"This visit will mark a new stage of cooperation between the IMF and the financial controller of Kazakhstan," said in the release.

During the meeting, the sides discussed Kazakhstan's introducing of a new monetary policy, development of the global and regional economy, holding of the Regional Forum of the International Monetary Fund and the opening of a regional center for technical assistance in Central Asia.
