Gennady Golovkin defended his WBA middleweight title successfully with the commanding performace against Britain’s Martin Murray on Saturday, stopping him in the 11th round on a one-sided contest.
Golovkin scored two knockdowns in round four – both from body shorts- and again late in round 10 from a right hand over the top. Murrya was brave in taking a beating, but was hopelessly outgunned and under siege when referee Luis Pabon stopped the fight early in the 11th round.
The win marks the 19th straight knockout for Golovkin, now 32-0 (29Kos).
