Gennady Golovkin batters Martin Murray in the 11th round

Gennady Golovkin defended his WBA middleweight title successfully with the commanding performace against Britain’s Martin Murray on Saturday, stopping him in the 11th round on a one-sided contest.

Golovkin scored two knockdowns in round four – both from body shorts- and again late in round 10 from a right hand over the top. Murrya was brave in taking a beating, but was hopelessly outgunned and under siege when referee Luis Pabon stopped the fight early in the 11^th round.

The win marks the 19th straight knockout for Golovkin, now 32-0 (29Kos).
