Under Secretary for Political Affairs Wendy R. Sherman is traveling to New Delhi, Astana, and Bishkek beginning November 24, 2012, politicalnews.me reports.
In New Delhi, India, Under Secretary Sherman will meet with government officials and civil society to discuss the strategic partnership between the United States and India. In her meetings with External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid, Foreign Secretary Ranjan Mathai, and other Indian officials, she will continue her consultations on areas of bilateral concern, including coordination on regional issues, counter-terrorism cooperation and deepening security and economic ties.
Wendy Sherman is scheduled to arrive to Astana on November 28. During her 2 day trip she will deliver speech at Eurasian University on U.S. support for the New Silk Road vision, as well as meet with Kazakh officials to affirm strategic partnership with Kazakhstan and underscore the importance the US government place on stated commitment to greater openness and democracy.
In Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic, Sherman will meet with meet with government officials and parliamentarians, as well as representatives from civil society groups focused on democracy and good governance.
