Astana to host EXPO 2017

Paris: On 22 November 2012, the Bureau International des Expositions voted to select Astana as the host of Expo 2017. It will be Kazakhstan's first world's fair as well as the first in Central Asia.

Liege, Belgium and Astana, Kazakistan were the two destinations which were contesting to win the bid to host the International Expo 2017.

The Belgian candidacy aimed to organize an International Expo 2017 in Liege on the theme of Information and communication technology titled “Connecting the World, Linking People, Better Living Together”.

While as "Future Energy" was the theme proposed by Kazakhstan to host the International Exhibition EXPO 2017 in Astana. 

The Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) voted today and elected Astana.

The Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) was founded in 1928 and regulates international expositions as well as other exhibits on behalf of more than 100 member nations.
