President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko believes that Ukraine should not talk about the status of Russian but English.
“The second language for study in schools should be English, because there is a relationship between the level of income and the level of knowledge of the English language by citizens of the country”, — he said during a speech in I. Franko National University of Lviv.
According to Poroshenko, an example of this thesis is Singapore, where in the 1950s the country’s leadership forcibly made English a second language, and now Singapore is among the developed nations of the world.
The President noted that the majority of Ukrainians believe that there should be one national language. At the same time he said that English should be aware of the ministers, and ideally — every government official.
“Let’s not talk about the status of Russian but English”, — said the president of Ukraine.
