U.S. Charge d'Affaires in Kazakhstan John Ordway has discussed countermeasures against security threats with the Interior Minister of Kazakhstan Kalmukhanbet Kasymov, Tengrinews reports referring to the Ministry's press-service.
“They exchanged views on a wide range of issues related to fighting crime, discussed the current state and prospects of cooperation in countering new challenges and security threats,” the message says.
The minister updated the Charge d'Affaires on the steps taken by Kazakhstan to ensure public order and security, including the traffic safety, as well as on ongoing reforms in the Department of the Interior.
The officials agreed that the cooperation between Kazakhstan and the United States was yielding positive results and that the U.S. Charge d'Affaires had greatly "contributed into the joint anti-drug-trafficking projects" and others projects of mutual interest, like training of Kazakhstan policemen.
Before meeting Kalmukhanbet Kasymov Ordway had meet with Kazakhstan's Attorney General Berik Imashev and the Public Prosecutor Askhat Daulbaev.
