There has been a car accident at the territory of Karachaganak gas condensate field in Kazakhstan, Tengrinews reports citing a local media Moy gorod.
KamAZ heavy truck crashed with a bus full of workers. 18 people were injured in the collision, four of them are in grave condition. They were delivered to Aksai hospital.
The accident happened at around 7 p.m. on October 22 when the workers were returning home from their shift at Karachaganak field.
The car accident is now being investigated by the police. According to the preliminary version, the collision happened because the bus driver was supposed to yield the right of way to the truck, but failed to do so.
Karachaganak Field is a gas condensate field in Kazakhstan. It is located about 150 km east of Uralsk town in the northwest of Kazakhstan. It is estimated to contain 1.2 trillion cubic meters of gas and one billion tonnes of liquid condensate and crude oil.
It is developed under a production sharing agreement by Karachaganak Petroleum Operating (KPO) where BG Group and ENI are joint operators with a 29.25% stake each, Chevron and Lukoil own 18% and 13.5% respectively, and KazMunayGas holds a 10% stake.
