Kazakhstan will process half of its waste products by 2050.
It has been announced by Minister of Environmental Protection Nurlan Kapparov at the presentation of the Concept of Kazakhstan's transition to the green economy in Astana today.
According to him, the concept lays the foundation for creation of a new recycling sector in Kazakhstan with more opportunities in terms of employment.
"At the moment, 97 percent of wastes are scavenged to refuse dumps that do not meet sanitary requirements," said the Environmental Protection Minister.
In his words, it is of paramount importance to dispose and store the wastes to the full extent by 2050.
