Kazakhstan to have 4 days off for Victory Day - May 9

Kazakhstan Prime Minister Serik Akhmetov has signed a government decree on days off in May, the PM’s official website writes.

“To create good conditions for rest and rational use of work time, the day off shall be moved from Saturday May 4 to Friday May 10, 2013,” the message states. Thus, Kazakhstan residents will have 4 days off on the Victory Day from May 9 to 12.

“In line with the decree, companies provided with labor, material and financial resources for production of goods, rendering services, including financial ones, as well as for putting construction facilities into service, shall have a right to work on May 10, 2013 with an approval from their trade unions. The work that day shall be paid in line with the acting legislation of Kazakhstan,” prime minister’s press-service writes.

In May Kazakhstan also celebrates the 1st of May – the Day of Unity and the 7th of May - Defender of the Fatherland Day, will be celebrated as a state holiday as of this year.  

The work on the specified days will be compensated in accordance with the current legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
