​Qatar to invest in development of Kazakhstan silicon industry

Completion of restoration work on the silicon plant in Karaganda region has prepared the basis for further development of this industry in the country, Deputy CEO “Tau-Ken Samruk" JSC Kylyshbek Izbaskhanov said.

Kazakhstan has agreed with Qatar on solar-grade silicon production, introduction of technology of gas-slag refining, hydrometallurgical purification and directional crystallization, Izbaskhanov said during the media briefing at the Central Communications Service of the President of Kazakhstan.

The sides are now considering creation of a joint venture and the supply of finished products on a contractual basis, he said.
