​Why did pelicans die?

In the estuary of the Kigach River in Kurmangazy District of Atyrau Oblast the North Caspian Operating company found 70 dead birds of rare Dalmatian pelicans.

The territorial inspection of forestry and wildlife of Atyrau Oblast has reported that carcasses of birds were found on April 11 by NCOC specialists during spring flight around of the sea water area by helicopter.

For investigation of the reasons the working group has been established consisting of specialists from ecological and veterinary services. The organs of the dead birds will be sent for research to the regional veterinary laboratory. The Dalmatian pelican has been entered into the Red Book of Kazakhstan.
