“Blood moon” lunar eclipse to provide stellar light show

On Wednesday, October 8, the moon will pass in Earth’s shadow, causing a total lunar eclipse.

The spectacle will be visible to the naked eye. At the height of the eclipse, the rays of the Sun, refracted by the Earth’s atmosphere, will tint the moon shades of crimson, from copper to deep red.

While Europe will witness this stellar light show, it will not unfortunately be able to see the accompanying total lunar eclipse. The event will nevertheless be broadcast live online.
