The grandson of Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev Aisultan Nazarbayev has been promoted to Senior Lieutenant, reports KazTAG citing a source in Astana.
"Aisultan Nazarbayev was promoted while serving with the General Staff of the Armed Forces' Main Intelligence Directorate of the Republic of Kazakhstan," the source said Monday.
Aisultan Nazarbayev, 23, is a graduate from the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in the United Kingdom. His mother Dariga Nazarbayeva, a member of Kazakh parliament, says "upon return to Kazakhstan he served in the Otar Garrison, and now works in the military intelligence."
He started his duty tour with the Defense Ministry in the rank of Lieutenant.
Earlier, it was announced he was preparing to get married. His future wife, Alima, is a daughter of KazRosGaz LLP Gen Director Kairat Boranbayev.
President Nazarbayev has three daughters - Dariga, Dinara and Aliya, three grandsons - Nurali, Altai and Aisultan, five granddaughters - Venera, Denisa, Alisha, Tiara and Alsara and grandgrandchildren - Laura and Alan.
