97% of Atyrau residents speak fluent Kazakh

97% of Atyrau residents speak Kazakh fluently; 92% and 6.7% are proficient in Russian and English respectively, says Kairat Tarbayev, a press secretary of the regional administration.

"Currently, the number of residents of the Atyrau region speaking the Kazakh language is the highest in the country. Out of 198 schools in the region, 138 are with the Kazakh language of instruction. Regardless of what school the students attend, they all have equal conditions to learn the state language and speak it fluently by the time they graduate," Mr. Tarbayev notes.
