I would like to say thank you to my former manager, she was example for me, like queen Elizabeth, she never shouted on me, she always spoke in calm way and was very, very kind. Yes, she was expat, she gave me a lot, showing how people should behave to each other. She was professional, she teached me and my colleages a lot. Now she in works in Africa. I am very happy that i met her. Her salary was higher than mine in 10 times, may be 20 times, but money doesn't matter so much as relationships. Local lady.

While the elites in the British empire were conquering foreign countries. Their subjects were working in awful conditions down coal mines, digging canals, working in dangerous factories for very little money. They were treated no better than the people in the countries conquered by the elite. Why should these people be blamed for what their masters did? It's only in the last 50 years that things have changed in the UK and poverty/living conditions have improved and in some parts there is a long way to go. One of the comments refers to not having to look far to find poverty in Atyrau, the same can be said for London, Birmingham and Manchester.
As for foreigners coming to Kazakhstan, most of Europe is in a situation where the number of jobs available is far less than the numbers of people in that country, not helped by something which is the opposite of what is happening here, cheap labour from abroad driving down salaries while the cost of living increases. If companies like Agip are going to offer expats silly money when their salaries back home are struggling to match the cost of living, then they of course are going to take advantage. The issue is the huge alleged difference in salaries.
However, in the cases of locals who have been trained to the same standards as their expat managers, then allowing for the compensation required for working away from home, the salaries should be equalised.
I knew some expats who were going to leave when NCPOC were going to take over. They were going to force expats to take on full time positions, not rotations, and be fully employed by NCPOC, not as freelancers (freeloaders) through agencies, this obviously did not appeal and these people we will be well rid of. NCPOC have said, this is Atyrau, not Lagos, you are not going to get kidnapped, you do not need armed guards, therefore you do not need this much money, they also had a good plan to quickly start transferring responsibility to locals, so most of the remaining expats would be phased out and moved to other projects w
