Kazakhstan's Prime Minister Karim Massimov and his Hungarian counterpart Viktor Orban signed a joint declaration on strategic partnership, Kazakh Prime Minister's website reported.

The declaration was signed within Karim Massimov's official visit to Budapest on June 3.

During the intergovernmental negotiations the parties noted that Kazakhstan is the largest trading partner of Hungary among the CIS countries.

They noted the high potential for expanding bilateral cooperation, especially in trade and economic sphere.

A wide range of issues in trade and economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation was discussed at the meeting.

In particular, the parties considered the prospects for bilateral cooperation in the oil and gas industry, agriculture, development of non-oil sectors of the economy, and investment sphere.

"We need to bring Kazakh-Hungarian relations to a qualitatively new level of strategic partnership," Massimov stated. "There are all prerequisites and necessary legal framework for meeting this goal."

In turn, Orban noted the mutually beneficial cooperation with Kazakhstan in various spheres of economy.
