September 28 2012, 18:05

Erlan Idrisov was appointed as the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the presidential press service said.

He was relieved of his post as Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the United States, according to the decree.

Yerlan Idrisov, 53, was reappointed to the post he held between 1999 and 2002 before embarking on consecutive five-year stints as ambassador to Britain and the United States.

Erlan Idrisov replaced Erzhan Kazykhanov, who headed the Foreign Ministry of Kazakhstan from April 2011.

Kazykhanov was appointed presidential adviser on Friday.
